The "Dances With Wolves" achievement/trophy requires that you not kill any of the wolves at the beginning of the level. If you aren't familiar with the game, I would recommend saving at the start of the level and then saving again in a new slot. Play through normally at least once to get the lay of the land, then reload that first save to attempt this achievement/trophy.
This video shows the sequence. A breakdown using text and screenshots follows.
From the level start run forward then veer left into the large, low-ceilinged room with the pool.
With the first 4 wolves hot on Lara's tail, run forward around the pool. Throughout this sequence, it helps to do running jumps wherever the ceiling is high enough to permit. (You'll see me bump Lara's head at least once in the video.)
Continue forward and a little to the left, toward the black-and-white switch.
Pull the switch as quickly as you can, while the wolves attempt to disembowel Lara.
NOTES: I've chosen to go for the switch and key first, rather than collecting all 6 wolves, because it's a little easier to use them with "only" 4 wolves attacking. Lara's frustratingly slow animations mean you'll still lose some health in the process. If you're playing with keyboard controls, hotkeys 0 and 9 administer small and large medi packs, respectively. If you're using a controller, you'll need to select health packs from inventory. A small medi pack restores half Lara's health, a large one restores full health.
Run through the door you just opened with the switch. Take running jumps up the wooden stairs...
...and around to the left.
Keep running and jump across the gap into the window of the room lined with skulls. Here Lara is safe for a while.
Hop down, run across the break-away tiles, and jump over to the alcove with the large medi pack as usual. Then drop down and push the movable block into the next room.
Kill a bat and collect the SILVER KEY. (You can take the GOLD IDOL as well, but you won't need it if you plan to reload your earlier save and replay the level after unlocking this achievement/trophy.) Then use the movable block to reach the high ledge. This sequence is detailed in the main walkthrough.
Kill 2 more bats that drop from the ceiling, grab the large medi pack in the dark corner, and climb into the opening above. Kill 2 more bats. Then save again here, preferably in a new slot. Then if you die during the next phase, you can reload and try again without having to deal with the switch.
Hop down into the hallway, turn left, and run back toward the pool.
Veer left into the hallway lined with greenery...
...and continue straight on to the locked door with the keyhole. Use the SILVER KEY to unlock the door. (Again, you'll probably need to use a few health packs to survive the process.)
As the door starts to swing open, immediately roll to face away from the keyhole—if the enemies will let you. If they push Lara into the corner, you'll probably need to reload and start again from the window above the SILVER KEY room.
Turn left and follow the long, straight corridor...
...past the next intersection...
...all the way to the
far corner. Here you'll meet the fifth wolf. Turn right at this corner. (There's no other choice.)
Continue straight ahead, picking up a few more bats. Continue straight at the next intersection...
...and keep going until you reach the small room in the next corner, where light spills in from above. The sixth wolf will join you here. Turn right, then right again...
...and you'll emerge back at the room with the pool. Run/jump across the open area, and veer to the right, into the hallway just beyond the pool.
Keep going forward, through the door you opened earlier with the SILVER KEY. Run past the dart traps in the next small room.
Continue straight ahead toward the red-roofed building and the 4 Toltec warrior statues. The last 5 wolves will pile on here, and you should unlock the achievement/trophy. Whew!
DARK MODE: Even with brightness adjusted, dark images on a light background can be hard to see. May I suggest a reputable dark mode browser extension, such as Dark Reader? (Download only from trusted sites, like darkreader.org or your browser's web store.)
